Józef visits the sanatorium of Dr. Gotard, where his deceased father was treated. In this extraordinary place, he travels back in time, which he unsuccessfully tries to restore in real life. In a surreal reality, his father is alive, and he is a little boy again. He sees a Jewish town, his family home, Princess Bianca, who rejected his love, leaving with her friend Rudolf. The film, based on the prose by Bruno Schulz, is a poetic reflection on the transience and meaning of life.
