Fans of Flash Gordon comics may note that the title contains a typo – the hero's name is written with an "a", not an "e". However, this is not a mistake – "Flesh Gordon" is an erotic comedy that is a parody of the classic film adaptations of the Flash's adventures. In this version, our hero must travel to the planet Porno to save Earth from sex rays from space that turn ordinary citizens into nymphomaniacs.
"Flesh Gordon" was originally supposed to be a hardcore (although funny and colorful) porn, but the police confiscated the scenes of unsimulated sex. So it became a crazy erotic comedy that can boast the best cast of practical effects specialists the world has ever seen. The phallic ship and the monster with the charming name Penisosaurus were created by such geniuses of make-up and animatronics as Rick Baker (Planet of the Apes, Men in Black), Jim Danforth (They Live, Clash of the Titans), David Allen (Willow, Ghostbusters II) and Dennis Muren (Jurassic Park, Star Wars). They were all just starting out in the industry at the time and had no idea what a bright future awaited them.
